Triethanolamine (TEA/TEOA)
Triethanolamine (TEA/TEOA), also known as trolamine, is an oily, viscous, liquid organic chemical compound with a mild ammonia odor. Like all ethanolamines, triethanolamine is industrially produced exclusively by the reaction of ethylene oxide with excess ammonia. The reaction takes place slowly and is accelerated by water. In all conventional processes, the reaction occurs in the liquid phase.

Usage
Triethanolamine (TEA/TEOA) is used in a variety of cosmetic and personal care products, including eyeliners, mascara, eye shadows, blushers, make-up bases and foundations, as well as in fragrances, hair care products, hair dyes, wave sets, shaving products, sunscreens, and skin care and skin cleansing products). Triethanolamine (TEA/TEOA) is also used with in conjunction with fatty acids to convert acid to salt, which in turn becomes the base for a cleanser. Triethanolamine (TEA/TEOA) assist in emulsion formation by reducing surface tension of the substances, enabling water and oil-soluble ingredients to mix.
Triethanolamine (TEA/TEOA) is used primarily in making surfactants, such as for emulsifier. It is a common ingredient in formulations used for both industrial and consumer products. Triethanolamine (TEA/TEOA) can be used as organic additive to facilitates the grinding process by preventing agglomeration and coating of the powder at the surface of balls and mill wall. In Electroless plating, used as a complexing agent.
